VOLUNTEERING AT RDA BRIGADOON

Our Centre relies on the generosity and efforts of volunteers.  Without their tireless efforts and contributions our Centre would cease to exist.  They are absolutely critical to our program. So, to all our wonderful volunteers - we appreciate you and we sincerely thank you!

Our volunteers come from many different walks of life therefore we try to ensure that they are given opportunities to contribute in ways that they feel comfortable with and interesting for them.  They range from early teens to octogenarians and come with many different resources and life experiences to offer us.

Our volunteers are required to do mandatory training once a year, however we also work on a buddy system whereby new volunteers are buddied until they feel comfortable working on their own.  All of our  volunteers are insured under Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia policies. Copies of the Certificate of Currencies is available upon request.

Those 18 years of age and over are also required to hold a current Worker's with Children Check and Volunteer National Police Clearance.  Applications for both are held in our office and we can assist you with your applications at a reduced rate.

Everyone has something to offer and we always need volunteers to help out at/and for the Centre.  Maybe you have skills in marketing or grant writing or perhaps you are a keen handyman or have a passion for horses. We have volunteers at the Centre ready to  meet you and to give you the grand tour  including meeting some of our amazing herd. They will also discuss with you the various roles and requirements for volunteering at the Centre. You do not need to book for these tours, but please remember to wear closed in footwear.

Our tours are conducted during school terms (subject to change):

Fridays            9am to 12.30pm

                        3pm to 5.00pm

or by appointment.

The rewards for volunteering at RDA Brigadoon are immeasurable. There is so much to love about being a volunteer at our Centre.  Our horses.  The participants we support. But most of all, the priceless transformations our participants will make with your help.  In appreciation for the hard work and dedication from our regular volunteers we reward them with a complementary riding session each term as well as the opportunity to receive discounted riding lessons (conditions apply).
